Currently in 7 cities across the country, we are positioning ourselves for future growth and have an exciting opportunity for a Data Engineer.

Position Summary

The Data Engineer will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining our data architecture and pipelines to support a longitudinal enterprise database and integrated analytics ecosystem. This role will architect and implement data ingestion from multiple external systems, develop scalable pipelines, enforce best practices in data quality and governance, and ensure alignment of data platforms with business needs. The Data Engineer partners with data analytics, business, and IT teams to enable modern, consumable data products that support reporting, analytics, and decision-making.

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer

Working in collaboration with other leaders and colleagues, the Data Engineer will be responsible for the following:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines that ingest, transform, and integrate data from external systems and internal sources into our longitudinal database environment.

  • Architect and implement end-to-end data solutions including batch and near-real-time workflows using DBT?Cloud, APIs, cloud platforms (Azure), data warehouses (Snowflake), and relational databases (PostgreSQL).

  • Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and metadata to support downstream analytics, reporting, and data science.

  • Support the development of data products that can be consumed in reporting and analytics tools such as Tableau.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders (business, analytics, architecture) to understand requirements, define data ingestion strategy, data mappings, and design specifications.

  • Bring in external system data (via MuleSoft, APIs, or other connectors) and integrate with internal platforms including CRM (Salesforce) and other enterprise systems.

  • Implement and maintain data governance, lineage, and cataloging practices to ensure data quality, discoverability, and traceability.

  • Monitor and optimize pipeline performance, query efficiency, storage design, and cloud cost-effectiveness.

  • Implement CI/CD, version control, automated testing, and orchestration for data pipelines.

  • Support the design and implementation of cloud infrastructure (Azure) components, ensuring scalability, availability, and security of the data platform.

  • Mentor junior engineers, document architecture/design decisions, and contribute to the data engineering community of practice within the organization.

  • Stay current with data engineering trends, tools, and best practices, driving continuous improvement of the data platform and pipeline ecosystem.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent work experience.

  • 3–5 years of hands-on data engineering experience, ideally in a mid-to-large enterprise.

  • Proven experience with cloud data platforms, warehouses, and pipelines (Snowflake strongly preferred).

  • Proficiency in Python and/or similar programming/scripting languages for building data pipelines, transformations, and integrations.

  • Hands-on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar) and data modeling (star/snowflake schema, normalized/denormalized models).

  • Experience with orchestration tools, CI/CD for data workflows, version control, and automated testing of pipelines.

  • Strong knowledge of APIs and data ingestion/integration technologies (MuleSoft or similar), including external system data onboarding.

  • Experience with DBT (or equivalent transformation tools) and maintaining data transformation logic.

  • Knowledge of data governance, cataloging, and lineage practices.

  • Proven ability to translate technical data solutions into consumable data products for reporting and analytics (Tableau or similar).

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Analytical thinking, detail orientation, and ability to work in an agile environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in data engineering, cloud technologies (Azure), Snowflake, or DBT.

  • Experience integrating with CRM or enterprise systems (Salesforce, MuleSoft).

  • Exposure to Infra-as-Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform), containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Experience mentoring or leading other engineers or guiding architecture decisions.
