Salary Range: $85,000- $95,000 Annually

Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Finance & Accounting, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for accounting functions across multiple entities, including complex reconciliations and intercompany eliminations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to navigate intricate Balance Sheets. This role will involve ensuring accurate data transfer between systems and providing insightful ad hoc reporting. The Senior Accountant will also assist in various projects and perform other standard accounting duties as assigned to support the overall financial health of the organization. Because we are a small team, the Senior Accountant must be a confident self-starter as well as exhibit strong collaboration and problem-solving skills. The candidate must demonstrate the ability and willingness to step in when needed to provide support on a broad range of tasks requiring an equally broad range of skills.
Essential Job Functions
- Multi-Entity Accounting: Oversee and manage targeted financial operations for multiple entities within the organization, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Intercompany Eliminations: Prepare and execute intercompany elimination entries and ensure accurate consolidation of financial statements across all entities.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Perform complicated balance sheet reconciliations, identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective measures to ensure accurate financial reporting. This further requires a core knowledge of complex payroll, benefits, and retirement plan operations and reconciliations.
- Routine Transactions: Process routine accounting transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries in a timely manner. The Senior Accountant will also serve as the Accounts Payable backup when A/P staff are out of the office.
- Data Transfer and System Management: Manage data transfer between accounting systems and ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data, including payroll transactions. Assist in system upgrades or implementations as needed.
- Ad Hoc Reporting: Generate and present ad hoc financial reports and analyses to assist management in decision-making processes. Provide insights based on financial data and trends. Provide support to sites with financial information required for grants.
- Standard Accounting Duties: Perform standard accounting tasks such as month-end close processes, preparation of journal entries, payroll review, and maintaining accurate financial records. Assist with annual audits, retirement plan reporting, and providing necessary research, documentation and support to auditors.
- Collaborative Support: Work closely with Finance team members, other departments, and culturally unique individual sites to gather necessary financial information and assist in reporting and compliance initiatives.
- Compliance and Best Practices: Ensure compliance with organizational policies, GAAP, and relevant regulations. Recommend improvements to accounting processes and internal controls.
- Other Duties as Assigned: Perform additional tasks and special projects as directed by the Director of Accounting and Finance, including support in payroll/benefits/retirement plan reporting, financial analysis, grants management, and any other responsibilities that align with the organization's objectives.
Essential Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of intercompany accounting and financial consolidation.
- Proven experience with complex Balance Sheet and system reconciliations, including complex Payroll transactions.
- Core understanding of the Payroll and Accounts Payable functions.
- Solid understanding and facilitation of robust internal controls.
- Understanding of policies, processes, and procedures according to GAAP and standard accounting rules and ability to document processes and procedures.
- Proficient in accounting software, and at least intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with consistent attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage time, priorities, projects, policies, communication, and general working conditions within a fully remote environment with co-workers across three time zones.
- Desire to learn and grow as a teammate and a leader.
Desired Qualifications
- CPA or equivalent preferred but not required.
- Senior level accounting experience in non-profit organizations and multi-entity environments.
- Experience with Sage Intacct is a plus.
- Additional experience with Concur, Ramp, or other A/P software; Gusto or other Payroll software; Box, OneDrive, or other shared platforms; Salesforce; MS Teams, Outlook, and Word; Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with systems upgrades and migrations.
- Project management experience and competency.
