Genesys Works is a nonprofit organization that trains and employs high school and college aged students to perform professional services for major corporations. Our mission is to provide pathways to career success for high school students in underserved communities through skills training, meaningful work experiences, and impactful relationships. Purpose of Position

This position directs our site-level people and operations functions to support the program, funding and partnerships in pursuit of the Genesys Works mission. The Director reports to the Executive Director and is a member the senior leadership team.

Genesys Works National provides many operational services to local Genesys Works sites. This position would serve a key liaison to the National service providers and, with the People and Operations team, work to implement National services, fill gaps to meet site needs, and set local strategy.

Key Responsibilities

With the People and Operations Team, plan, direct, and implement policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient organizational operations in the following areas:

  • Talent development and management: Lead the talent development lifecycle for GWTC, including recruiting and onboarding, performance management and team development, and staff culture and engagement; Serve as bridge to National and support local HR needs for staff and interns.
  • Site-level Finance: Lead the annual budgeting process, provide regular financial analysis, manage the expense and contracting processes, and train as needed; serve as liaison to Board of Directors Finance Committee.
  • Infrastructure: Identify and implement site-level office and technology needs.
  • Events: Support operational aspects of Program or Revenue team events.
  • Program Support: Provide additional operational support to the Program team including Onboarding interns, supporting subsidized transportation for interns, and providing the technology needed for Summer Training and internships.
  • Partner with the Corporate Partnership needs to meet the needs of our partners, including executing contracts, meeting onboarding requirements (E.g., background checks), and billing.

Manage operations of the Genesys Works Twin Cities Board of Directors, in partnership with ED and People & Operations Staff:

  • Set annual plan for five GWTC Board meetings, including administration (scheduling and preparing location) and strategic focus.
  • Manage the creation of agendas for Board meetings and coordinate the content creation with the content experts.
  • Manage the Board engagement scorecard; set and track engagement goals.

Foster collaboration across the organization

  • Work in collaboration with the Genesys Works board, organization directors and program leadership to lead annual goal setting and budget processes.
  • Facilitate and manage the workplan process, highlighting key organizational priorities and dependencies.
  • Serve as site representative for Genesys Works key external partnerships including the Genesys Works National office, vendors and program partners on operational elements.

Manage the People and Operations Team and serve on the Senior Leadership Team

  • Manage the People and Operations team, which currently consists of three permanent employees and one part-time intern.
  • Prioritize team and individual activities, conduct periodic performance reviews, and support goal setting and professional development for team members.
  • Participate on the Senior Leadership Team and provide overall input and counsel to organizational strategy and operations.

Qualifications

We seek a nonprofit / business generalist who believes deeply in our organization’s mission, who thrives in a dynamic work environment, who can produce consistent, impactful, and timely service, and who is able to work both independently and collaboratively. More specifically, qualifications include:

  • Minimum 8 years of demonstrable success in a team leadership position. Experience in workforce development, higher education, college access and/or college success preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and experience leading related initiatives.
  • Experience in an operational leadership role with oversight of talent, finance and infrastructure.
  • Experience managing a budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external partners.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently while simultaneously maintaining a team focus.
  • Strong sense of accountability for both student achievement, operational excellence, and personal development.
  • Experience with Salesforce preferred.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Ability to work with computers and databases.
  • Critical thinking and strong analytical abilities.

Compensation and How to Apply
Starting annual salary for this position is $103,800. As an organization we value pay equity transparency for candidates and current Genesys Works staff. We offer market-based salaries that are based on local data. Comprehensive benefits package includes health coverage, paid time off, and (11) company holidays; a 403(b) retirement plan with company match; validated parking near the Genesys Works office in downtown St. Paul, and a communication allowance.

Genesys Works utilizes a hybrid structure, with an expectation that employees work both remotely and in-person at our downtown St. Paul office.
